More Reaction...

It's the talk of the country today -- the Riders' 39-32 win over Edmonton last night at Mosaic Stadium and the 59-minute delay in the middle of it all due to a severe and isolated lightning storm.

For postgame reaction from the Riders including President Jim Hopson, coach Kent Austin and players, check out my postgame report on The Score Sports Network running hourly this afternoon.

Here's more global email reaction.....

Great job staying on-air RIDER RADIO!

Hopefully CBC can get the game back on-air, if not I'm listening on the internet from Yellowknife!!

Hi Guys,

Sounds like you are having a great time in Regina.
The CBC pay per view feed has been cut but I can still listen to you guys!
Thanks for staying on the air.
You guys can give CBC a lesson or two.

I am listening to the game over your webcast, as well as watching pay per view over cflbroadband and it is currently 7;30 A.M. here! I was wondering if you would say hello to my family and friends who are at the game, watching and listening to the game. Thank you very much. Lets go Rider Lets go!!!!!

Can your Mosaic Stadium team broadcast whether or not CBC is going to have the continued Rider game on TV right now?
We're watching from Banff and really want to see the game.
Thanks for keeping on the air during the delay! We're listening!

Kudos to CKRM’s cell phones and webcast…. I’m listening to the game in Florida… I was watching the INSINC broadcast, but that webcast died with the lightening strike. CKRM is still the only reliable way to catch the game. Thanks,

Allan

(this is the third Rider game that INSINC messed up… one they said they had technical difficulties, another was in BC and they didn’t realize that it was blacked out in BC so they couldn’t pick up the TSN signal… what a joke).

Thanks for staying on the air!
I'm in Toronto and the CBC has failed on us but you guys won't!

Hello CKRM,

My name is Ben and I'm a roughrider fan listening in from Ottawa. It is 1:15 over here, but I just wanted to ask you guys to keep trying your best to stay online. I just want to stay up to date and keep hoping the game can get finished safely and hopefully go our way with the momentum from that botched punt. Thanks for keeping me connected 34 minutes and counting!

To the round table guys after the game:

Just to let you know CBC never brought the game back in Alberta after
the delay......my son phoned from Alberta and I put my phone on
speaker next to the TV so he could listen...too funny...

I also sent an email to Danny Barrett in Buffalo to let him know we
are in first place and also suggested that his comment about being
back in the USA where real football is played was a bit of an
understatement. I suggested he knew very well that the last minutes in
the CFL is where it's at. Only in the USA can teams walk off the field
with 2 minutes left. I think he knows the CFL is much more exciting.

I don't think I will hear back from him....

As to the Riders...this really great....nice to have a real winning team....

You need to get a photo of Tillamn waving the flag in the pouring rain. He could have stayed nice and dry in the booth but chose to be with the fans

There's a shot of Eric and the flag in my Score story.

Apparently my cameraman Adrian was the only guy to capture the momentm

I hope your highlight package is better than TSN's, theirs was brutal (at least the one I saw on tsn.ca), if a person didn't know what happened they would be clueless about the drama of tonight's game.

All I see is horse racing on the Score this afternoon, what time are your highlights on?

I was trying for a photo of Eric T. with the flag in the rain, but my batteries were exhausted (time for a new camera I guess).

I did get a video of the power going out though. My writeup is here with photos to come.

Hey Rod,
Is there any way you could post your Score story online? I didn't get a chance to catch it and now there's just been horse racing on all day. By the way Tillman's flag waving in the rain at the end of the game was amazing. It's nice to see a gm who is so passionate about the Riders and the fans.

The story will be airing, I'm guessting, for the rest of the day. Try at 4:00!

I was at the game with my brother and father (season ticket holders; 2-Oh-4) and we stayed the entire time. Of course, we were nice and dry up there, though. A big kudos to the other fans that stuck around, and to all the people who eventually let the game go on.

I tend not to listen to the coverage on CKRM very much, as I'm either at the game and I prefer to just listen to the ambience of the stadium, or have access to a television to watch the game. Granted, though, I watch with the TV muted most times as I can't stand the commentators. I'd listen to the game on CKRM in that instance, but I've developed an unhealthy superstition that if I listen on the radio, the Riders will lose.

I tape all the Rider games I can, just for my own personal record (although I don't usually keep the losses). I also will go the web sites for other broadcasters like TEAM 1040, QR77, CJOB, and CHED (although that last one is mainly for comedic purposes), and grab the archived broadcasts of the game from them. It's just interesting sometimes to hear about the team from a different perspective.

Even though I didn't listen to your coverage of Saturday night's game, I've heard great things about it. It times like that, that I wish CKRM had an audio vault of its own, or even just an archive of the game as broadcast (a la TEAM 1040 and the Lions), 'cause honestly, who really wants a vault full of country music. *brrrrr*

AFAICT, half the teams' radio broadcasters provide some form of archive of their game coverage, and the other half doesn't. Has there ever been any discussions within CKRM about providing archives of the games? Is there some reason why this hasn't been done? Is it up to each club? Is it up to the CFL? The broadcaster? The advertisers? Or is there some technical hurdle preventing it?

I know quite a few people who'd love to be able to go back and listen to the game on the radio... especially once knowing the outcome, too. ;)
